Present
were: Kenneth Vredenburg, Elizabeth G Carr, Carolyn Towsley, and John Brockway.
Sandra Mayo was absent. There were two guests present.
Public
Comment: Gordon Truit-The Austin Blair Dinner will be Thursday, September 24th
at Tulleymore Golf Resort. The Meet & Greet will start at 5:30 p.m. The Dinner
hour starts at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker is Robyn Walensky. Tickets can be
purchased at Patterson’s Flower or online at austinblair.html. Art Adelman-There
will be a 1/10 increase in the millage rate because EMS has had to purchase a
new ambulance. Commission on Aging has applied for a grant. The Community
Corrections grant has been cancelled. They will make up the difference with
higher fees in their programs i.e. tethers, drug tests, etc. The Court House
will begin a three stage program of strengthening their security with a focus on
their south entrance.
Minutes: Moved by Carolyn Towsley, supported by John Brockway to accept the
minutes with a correction to Unfinished Business #2: BS&S should be BS&A and to
New Business #1 FOIA: Sandra May should be Sandra Mayo. Motion carried.
Financial Report: The extra deposit from the METRO Act has been deposited in the
checking account so that the refund check may be written. We received a check
from Charter for $11,039.00. One check from the taxes bounced and we were
required to pay a fee on it.
Payment
of the Bills: Moved by Carolyn Towsley, supported by John Brockway to approve
for payment Township check #’s 8556-8576 and Cemetery check #’s 1540-1542, with
the addition of check # 8577 for $3,348.30 to repay the Metro Act account.
Motion carried.
Unfinished Business:
1.
Fire Department and First Responder Report: The Pancake Breakfast will be
September 13th from 8:30-12:00. The Fire Board Meeting will be
September 16, 2015 at 7:00 pm.
2.
Assessor’s and Supervisor’s Report: The L-4029 form is completed. The millage
will remain the same at 1.25 mils. The ISD will be collecting 5.0859 mils. Will
look into adding some links to several public service organizations such as The
American Lung Association and QuitDay .org.
3.
Treasurer’s Report: The taxes are due Monday, September 15, 2015. 52% of the
taxpayers have paid 67% of the taxes.
4.
Clerk’s Report: There is a Special Election on November 3, 2015. I will be
sending out the AV apps this week.
5.
Taxes: We were in default with the Golf Course Tribunal. We had prepared the
wrong paperwork. All the right paperwork has been corrected. We will piggyback
on whatever settlement Morton Township makes with them.
6.
FYI: The FOIA guidelines have been posted online. Carolyn is still working on
the Staples business account. There
will be turkey barns going in on 180th Ave. We will speck out on the
cost of regular pavement and the cost of reinforcing the road by the turkey
barns with extra pavement.
