The Austin Township Board Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Kenneth Vredenburg at the Township Hall at 14132 Pierce Road, Stanwood, Michigan, 49346 on December 9, 2014 at 7:45 p.m.

Present were: Kenneth Vredenburg, Elizabeth G Carr, Carolyn Towsley, John Brockway, and Sandra Mayo. There were two guests present.

Minutes: Moved by Sandra Mayo, supported by Carolyn Towsley to accept the minutes as presented. Motion carried.

Financial Report: State shared revenue is up slightly. The Township Balance Sheet still incorrectly shows a balance in Taxes Receivable and Accounts Receivable. There is an incorrect $15.00 showing in the Independent Bank CD. The refund from the IRS for the First Responders will be $8.00 instead of $16.56 because of an adjustment in the tax rate. The Cemetery Balance Sheet is correct. Moved by Sandra Mayo, supported by John Brockway to approve the Financial Report. Carried subject to audit.

Payment of the Bills: Moved by Carolyn Towsley, supported by Sandra Mayo to approve for payment Township check #’s 8365-8370 and Cemetery check #’s1519-1521 and to present for review Fire Department check #’s 4968-4997 and First Responder check #’s 1468-1471. Motion carried.

Unfinished Business:

1.       Fire Department and First Responder Report: The tire gauges inspection has been completed. There were no reported injuries. The Fire Department Christmas Banquet will be December 17^th at 7:00 p.m.

2.       Assessor and Supervisor Report: Moved by Kenneth Vredenburg, supported by Carolyn Towsley to re-appoint Gloria Parker, Russell Hopkins, and Ron Jensen to the Austin Township Board of Review. Motion carried. Casair, Inc has sent us a letter requesting our feedback about the tower construction site on 130^th Ave. The Supervisor will write a letter expressing our approval.

3.       Treasurer’s Report: On the summer taxes, 97% of the people have paid 97% of the taxes. There is about $55,000.00 still outstanding. The Treasurer will be sending out reminder bills. For the winter taxes 186 people have paid 5% of the taxes.

4.       Clerk’s Report: The Clerk will be using Lois Skiera for assistance in preparing the 2014 tax forms.

7.       Culverts: The price for the culverts on 9 Mile will be about $3,200.00.

8.       Annual Joint Township Meeting: The Annual Joint Township Meeting will be on January 15, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Austin Township Hall. The Fire Board Meeting will be January 21, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fire Hall. The next Mecosta Township Association Meeting will be February 2, 2015 at Colfax Township Hall at 7:00 p.m.
